
West River Electric is launching an annual calendar featuring photos of our service area taken by Co-op members. Calendars will be available for members to pick up at Co-op offices each October.
Photos submitted should reference wildlife, landscape/scenery, action shots, activities or anything that represents our unique lifestyle in western South Dakota from all four seasons. From the entries received, we will select 13 photos - one for each month and one for the cover photo. Members photos featured in the calendar will receive a $20 bill credit. The members photo selected for the cover photo will receive a $50 bill credit. Their name will be used wherever the co-op uses the photo, which will typically be in the calendar, on the Co-op’s Facebook page, and in the monthly Cooperative Connections Magazine.
Photo Submission Requirements
We will accept member’s photo submissions online from June 1st through August 31st each year.
To enter, you must be a co-op member with an active account. Each member household may submit up to 3 photos. Please do not submit more than 3 photos as they will be disqualified from consideration.
Photo(s) must be:
- High resolution (300 ppi) or higher
- Horizontal format
- JPG, PNG, or TIFF
Photo Orientation
Since our calendar is in a horizontal format, we cannot accept photos in vertical orientation. Please crop your photos to a horizontal orientation before submitting. Panoramic photos are too wide for the entire image to fit in the calendar image frame. Please crop any panoramic image to your favorite composition before submitting.
Uploading Photos from Facebook
It is best to find the original image on your device instead of submitting a photo you’re already uploaded to Facebook. Facebook compresses images when they are uploaded, so it will no longer be high enough quality to print in the calendar.
